Covid-19 Policy

To protect the immunocompromised members of our community as well as our youngest children who are unable to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, we will be proceeding cautiously and in complete unity and love on behalf of all community members.

Toward that end, the following is the Beloved Community Co-op Illness policy with COVID precautions aimed at preventing the spread of any contagious illnesses. This policy is subject to change.

  1. Check your family for symptoms prior to attending any co-op day or community event.

Please stay home if any member of the family is experiencing cold or flu symptoms or symptoms of any contagious illness such as cough, fever, fatigue, aches, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, shortness of breath, or vomiting or diarrhea. Also, please stay home if anyone has a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19 or another contagious illness, or has come in contact in the last 10 days with a person who has been confirmed or suspected of having Covid-19 or another contagious illness. If a Covid test is negative, return to co-op can be 24 hours after symptom-free. Please notify us of any of the above situations immediately. If any of the above symptoms arise during the school day or a community activitywe ask the affected family to notify us immediately and please leave for the duration of the day/activity.

  1. Masks are required

All community members above the age of 3 are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth while indoors throughout class days.  Masking can be relaxed when social distancing indoors briefly to drink water bottles or to enjoy a snack. Masks are not required outdoors as long as participants can maintain a distance of 3-6 feet apart.

  1. Social distancing:

The community will strive to social distance 3 to 6 feet apart to the best of our ability.

  1. Morning Gathering:

When in the chapel for morning gathering or other whole-community events, family units should sit together in every other pew and socially distance from other family units.

  1. Outdoor Classrooms:

Weather permitting, classes will take place outside.  When classes are indoors, we encourage open windows and doors. Air circulation may be increased via fans.

  1. Meals:

Meals will be enjoyed within family units socially-distanced from other families. Weather permitting, meals should be consumed outdoors in the picnic areas or pavilion. When indoors, masks may be removed when seated at the table, but must be replaced when getting up from the table.

  1. Hygiene:

Handwashing and the use of hand sanitizer is encouraged throughout the day.  Thoroughly sanitize materials and surfaces in classrooms at the end of each day using Clorox or similar disinfecting cleanser or wipes.

Important Notes:

  1. This policy is subject to change based on the discretion of leadership at any time.
  2. While these measures will help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other contagious illnesses, they are not guaranteed to be effective.  Each family should assess their risk, determine what level of risk is acceptable, and decide whether attending Beloved Community Co-op is appropriate.  Families who elect to attend Beloved Community Co-op do so at their own risk.
